Charbonnage bench is made from the wood of the Scots pine, a tree species originally planted in the Campine coal basin for use in the coal mining industry. This tree is not native and is now being felled on a large scale because it threatens to overtake the heathlands of Limburg. Instead of being put to good use, the wood is often sold as firewood. I want to revalue this wood, which is so rich in history, by turning it into something meaningful.

I designed a bench filled with architectural references to the Eisden coal mine. Once the bench is completed, it is burned, a symbolic act referencing the transformation of wood into coal.

I am proud to announce that I am one of the three finalist of the BKRK-award

With CorkCycle, I developed an innovative biocomposite made from recycled wine corks and natural glue. From this material, I create affordable and aesthetic everyday objects that are both ecological and accessible.

One of my first applications is a multifunctional furniture piece that can be used both as a stool and a side table. Its removable solid oak top protects the cork and can also serve as a serving tray or charcuterie board.

CorkCycle is my exploration of balance between craftsmanship and production, sustainability and design, experimentation and feasibility.

New Wave

A room divider inspired by Eileen Gray's Briques, crafted from leftover materials from a wood steam-bending shop. The wooden elements create a flowing, wave-like pattern that adds both movement and elegance to the space. Thanks to its versatile design, the screen can be positioned in various ways, each time creating a different atmosphere.
