The clients brief was to turn their 30 year old dining table into a bed frame.
I managed to re-purpose some old beams into bed slats.
Great result, more pics to come!

Clients brief originally was a kitchen extension with more bench space, more lower cabinets with more drawers and a wine rack and matching overhead cabinets.
He was also after a solid timber benchtop.

After much discussion we agreed on a lower cabinet that would come all the way to the end of the wall, it would have two equal drawers and a pull out bin door.
For the benchtop I suggested the ikea timber veneer range and considering the actual price of American oak timber per lineal metre, these actually came out a treat and look amazing. I honestly couldn’t fault them.
The client had chosen a black sink to replace the existing silver one and the contrast in colours really changed the space and made it seem more bright and open.

Clients brief was two raised decks either side of main decking to replace existing garden beds.
Then install a mini deck to fill in another garden bed but have it installed at the same height as existing concrete.

I used 240x45 lengths of treated pine to make the sub frames that slotted into the existing spaces and at 120mm above the existing decking, next I cut the decking which was 90x19 lengths of Merbau Hardwood and used a 5mm packer for the spacing In-between each plank.
This allows for the timber to move width wise and is essentially called an expansion gap, normally it would be larger but this area isn’t exposed to the elements.
Next step was to mitre the 140x25 Merbau Hardwood facia boards around each raised deck.
I used liquid nails for longevity on the inside of these boards and titebond wood glue for the end grain mitres, and otherwise all planks of timber including facia were pre drilled and nailed with stainless steel nails to match existing.

On the smaller garden bed I used 70x45 treated pine lengths in which I cut into an L shape that roughly matched the internal shape.
Then I cut 90x19 Merbau Hardwood boards and ran them in the same direction as the deck on the otherside. These planks were pre-drilled and nailed in place and I used the same 5m spacer to get the same look.

My guesstimate on materials was spot on, there wasn’t any materials left over and the client was super happy with the result.

Made this stool for my main bathroom for the kids to stand on side by side while they brush their teeth.
It’s made from recycled Oregon with a walnut stain, dimensions 720L x 220W x 250H and showcases a few different joints.

Recycled Oregon Dining Table in its new home.
Mitered corners on the table top itself, a 45 degree edge detail and tapered legs.
Finished in a natural Tung oil and then followed by a bee wax for added protection and to bring out the colours.
