Today we acknowledge Mabo Day and the legacy of Eddie Koiki Mabo, whose courage and determination helped change the course of land rights in Australia.

Mabo Day is a reminder of the long fight for justice, recognition and truth and the strength of those who stood before us.

Standing on the shoulders of those who fought for land rights and justice.

Meet the Bunya Chair. ✨

A simple, comfortable seating option designed for the spaces where people come together, meeting rooms, waiting areas, breakout spaces and shared workplace environments.

During National Reconciliation Week, we’re reflecting on the importance of creating spaces that support conversation, listening and connection.

The Bunya Chair is part of our purpose-led furniture range, designed to bring comfort and meaning into everyday commercial spaces.

National Reconciliation Week is a reminder that reconciliation is not just something we acknowledge once a year. It is something we need to show through our actions, our relationships and the way we work.

This year’s theme, All In, speaks to shared responsibility and meaningful action.

At Madji, we are proud to create furniture with purpose, supporting First Nations design, local manufacturing and spaces that encourage connection, conversation and respect.

This week, we’ll be sharing more about the work we do, the stories behind our pieces and how furniture can help create spaces where people come together.

Today, on National Sorry Day, we pause to acknowledge the Stolen Generations, their families and communities.

It is a day for reflection, truth-telling and respect.

At Madji, we recognise that reconciliation starts with listening, learning and acknowledging the histories that continue to shape Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples today.

We pay our respects to Stolen Generations survivors, Elders past and present, and all First Nations communities.

As part of Australian Made Week, we’re proud to showcase another way Madji helps bring people together.

Our yarning circle is designed and made locally, featuring Indigenous artwork lounge pieces, ottomans and visitor seating that can be used to create a warm and welcoming space within workplaces, community events and gatherings.

Whether it’s Reconciliation Week, a Black Coffee event, mob meeting or workplace discussion, sometimes all it takes is a dedicated space for people to sit, connect and yarn.

A place designed for connection and conversation.

If you’re planning an upcoming event and would like to create a more meaningful environment, we’d love to chat.

From fabric to finished piece. Proudly supporting local manufacturing.

This Australian Made Week, we’re proud to celebrate the people and craftsmanship behind the spaces we create.

From locally made soft seating to locally printed fabrics and upholstery, every project is a collaboration between design, culture, manufacturing and skilled hands behind the scenes.

For us, it’s not just about where something is made.
It’s also about the people, stories and communities connected to it.

Our shirts are ready, and so are we. 💜

Madji will be joining Darkness to Daylight to walk alongside our community and help raise awareness for domestic and family violence.

We’re proud to be wearing the Gani Yirra purple work shirts by , created in partnership with .dv. The shirts are part of the Wear Purple for Change campaign, designed to raise awareness and support Indigenous women facing domestic violence. $10 from each shirt is donated directly to the Challenge DV public fund.

Come walk with us. Stand with us.
Together, every step means something.

Here’s a thought…

As conversations around Closing the Gap continue, culturally safe spaces are something every sector should be thinking about from workplaces and education to healthcare and community environments.

A culturally safe space is not created by design alone. It comes from respect, listening, consultation, cultural guidance, and genuine commitment.

But the physical environment can play an important role.

The colours, furniture, layout, artwork, and the way people gather within a room can all influence how welcomed, respected, represented, and connected people feel.

At Madji, we believe thoughtful design can help support spaces that encourage belonging, reflection, conversation, and connection.

Because the way a space feels can shape the experience people have within it.

A simple waiting space designed to make people feel a little more comfortable before stepping into important conversations.

For this ABC interview waiting area, we supplied a clean and functional furniture setup focused on comfort, warmth, and practicality.

Sometimes it’s the simple spaces that make the biggest difference. ✨
