As we’ve been knocked off by the rain I thought I’d share with you one of the current jobs I’m working on. Pulling some regrowth wattle and suckers. It was so thick in places had trouble seeing where we were going.
Don’t usually get a chance to take a video normally to busy looking where I’m going.
D85 and the old TD15 just doing there thing.

While I’ve been waiting on parts to repair one of my dozers I decided to rebuild the fingers on one of my rakes.
Last time I used old track pins. They wore very well but I decided to try stainless steel to repair the fingers. I know stainless steel is hard after playing with it years ago on blades.
So I bought a length of 1 1/2 inch dia 304 stainless steel bar to try. I would have used bisalloy but can’t get it in a round bar. I could have used 316 stainless steel, it’s harder than 304 stainless but was out of stock.
Nearly burnt 5kgs of stainless steel welding rods welding the sections of bar onto the fingers. .

The last couple of dams I’ve just finished this week. The first dam was sunk in on granite country and I was lucky to get it down as deep as I did. I spent an hour trying to rip the bottom of it only to get it down another foot. The baked clay is so hard your flat out ripping it.
The next dam was sunk only about a 1km away in the same granite country and it was about 10 foot deep before I found the baked clay. Still got some contour banks to do on the second dam to complete the dam. Tomorrow’s job.

I’ve been extremely busy sinking dams lately. I thought I’d give everyone a bit of a up date on what I’ve been up to.
This is one of three dams I’ve only just completed. It’s amazing what you can find while sinking a dam. Check out the crank shaft I pulled up while sinking this dam.

Another dam under construction. I put this dam over a gil guy. The clay was so puggy it rolled in front of the blade like butter in front of a knife. Made it hard to push out but it finished nice.

Couple of photos of one of the jobs I’ve just finished.
We cleared this block a couple of years ago but it never got ploughed. The box thorns took over. Man there was thousands of them.
A totally transformed paddock which is now under its first crop of oats.

It’s been a very busy month for me and the dozers. Pulled then raked about 120 acres of regrowth.
Pushed in a couple of new dams with the new dozer. Was very happy with the performance of the new dozer
Cleared a couple of fencelines.
Cleaned out and enlarged another dam that been on the books for a while.
Then spread a 1000 cubic meters of cow dung.
Now off to the next jobs.

What a start to the New Year. A track swap on two of my dozers.
As im selling one of the dozers I want the keep the new tracks which were on the dozer I’m selling so a track swap was in order I did a side a day including a swap of sprocket segments. What a job. Luckily I still had a bit of old track chain I could run one dozer onto so I could remove the track without jacking it up.
Got the job done and had the dozer ready to go back to work Monday morning the 5th.

What a mammoth day it’s been. After having a brain fart at 1.29 this morning and realising that I forgot to bend the lock tags on the bolts on the steering clutch on the left hand side. It got the better of me. I almost had the machine ready to get out of the shed but decided to pull the steering clutch out again.
Was a very wise decision as I didn’t bend the tabs on the bolts. All of 5 minutes and it’s ready to be refitted. Lost 6 hours but got it all back together.
