Why is the cost so different??? Wood that is usually up to 250-400mm wide and 20-35mm thick can be sold at a cheaper rate then wood over 500mm wide and 40 plus mm thick. Single slabs can be expensive and larger sizes due to a number of reasons. It is strongly recommended that if one wishes to achieve such desires with a limited budget, purchasing two slabs and milling / joining them together would be a fair cheaper option. Timber is a natural product;
Timber does have a tendency to move ever so slightly over time. Timber was once a living thing therefore will react to a number of elements and factors. SKD strongly advises that timber that is purchased for outdoor use is to be well looked after, recoated with oils / sealers at least ever 6-12 months. Failure to do this will result in aging of the timber and other defects. If possible cover your outdoor furniture with a furniture cover to keep water from pooling on the surfaces. If you are after a true and dead flat surface, timber may not be for you. Our products are dry and ready for installation. Staff have a moisture meter on hand and are happy to explain why you do not install green (freshly cut timber). Free local delivery is available (subject to terms and conditions).
