Seasons Services Hardwood custom furniture manufacturing. Seasons

Just as each year has seasons so does life. Now they are in a different season.

For me creating beautiful furniture pieces has been a lifelong passion and there has been a desire for many years to make this more than a hobby but a profession. After the first half of my life working as an engineer and the next quarter self employed in retail I am now enjoying a new season where I am combining my love of Australian hardwood timbers, the crafting of stylish and unique furniture

and of working creatively with customers. Like my wife and I, our clients have also experienced different seasons in their life. When they were young they scraped together whatever furniture they could afford. A season where they can afford furniture that they truly enjoy owning. We are loving working with them to provide pieces that they can enjoy for the rest of their lives. Recently my desk at work was a piece of furniture that I had made years earlier from the timber purlins removed from the warehouse of our shop while re-roofing. I found myself many times staring at and running my fingers over the unique swirls, patterns and sap inclusions of the timber and marveling at its warmth and beauty. Then I would lift my eyes to the cabinet on the opposite wall of the office. The top and door panels I had made from rich red Jarrah and the frame from contrasting Victorian Ash. Materials that had served as floor boards and beams in the old Dalgety Wool Store building in Albury. It was there that the seed was sown to make this my final and most fulfilling season. There is something emotive and special about providing an enduring link with history when giving a new life to previously used timber. Recycled timber is usually also better seasoned and more stable than recently milled timber and makes better furniture. There is an excitement of discovery when the old weathered exterior is removed and the beauty underneath is revealed. It is also more environmentally sustainable to reuse timber than to allow it to perish. A tree grows by taking in carbon from the atmosphere and when it decays it releases that carbon back into the environment as carbon dioxide. There is no better way of preventing that carbon from re-entering the atmosphere than caringly finishing it and placing it into a home to be loved and protected as a piece of furniture. The better quality that item of furniture is the more likely it is that it will have a long life. We have invested in purpose built machinery to ensure high quality manufacture and finish and can custom design and create to either your design or one of our designs. We also have the capability of producing large and unique items for commercial applications such as boardroom tables, bar tops and restaurant tables. We would be honoured to create something special for you. Garry and Michelle Rutland
