Angus at AJM Constructions knocked down some existing walls and put up a few new ones so we could transform the cramped individual spaces into this expansive open space kitchen area, and Townsville Stone put the icing on the cake with the first "leather finish" granite benchtops I've ever seen. Without exaggeration, this granite is hands down the most stunning slab I've ever laid eyes on.

9 metres of continuous seating and planters installed at Brothers Leagues Club. A big thanks to the team at Gh Place Upholstrey for their amazing work on the seating cushions.

Got this one going on between gluing up drying times on the other one......leftover materials from the reception counter I built. Also "winging it" on this one. A lot of head scratching and "Ahhhhhh f@ "!!! getting mumbled.

Prototype weekend

OK.....rough glue up has been shaped, and glued together as a frame. I'll start gluing slats on and update in a couple of hours.

Prototype weekend

Weird glue up? It'll start to take shape by the end of the day.
I've put this weekend aside to work on some prototype peices. Sometimes I'll have an idea, and I'll draw it up and work of a plan....sometimes I see off-cuts or spare material stored in the shed and an idea comes to mind and I'll just start work and "wing it". This is one of those "wing it" times.
There's always a lot of muttered swearing, lots of builders bog, a ton of mis-cuts piled up in the bin, and a little bit of banging my head on the wall.....this is when it's the most satisfying though weirdly enough.
All of this particular peice in this photo is simple pine salvaged from pallets. I have to give credit to my apprentice for pulling a truckload of them apart. It's not the most fun part of the process.

This joinery peice was part of the Brothers Leauges Club install. It sits just behind the small reception counter we built them. I have no idea what's going to be stored in something this shape.....all I know, us that I love getting to build out of the ordinary joinery like this.

Everything that's not fixed down has been moved to the centre of the workshop to try and mitigate any damage of the looming cyclone.
We're right in the middle of an expensive reception counter build....fingers crossed that all the machinery and jobs in progress stay dry.
I can hear the wind picking up now.....see you on the other side.

The curved seating in the Kids Room at Brothers Leagues Club turned out amazing. There were a few challenges architecturally with the seating having to be built off-plan to make the most of 'time to deadline' restrictions, and then the size of the room being changed mid build, but we made it work beautifully.
