We love seeing clients come back for their second Bombora piece!

These clients renovated their first bathroom last year, and recently came back to us for this Messmate Iluka vanity with a stone top for their next bathroom.

Before we started making it, we pulled up photos of their original vanity so we could match the timber tones and level of feature as closely as possible.

The two bathrooms don't need to be identical, but using the same timber tones helps create a lovely connection between the spaces and a more cohesive feel throughout their home.

Here it is mid-install. We can't wait to see the finished bathroom!

Ever wondered why our solid timber doors have horizontal pieces of timber at the top and bottom?

They're called breadboard ends, and they're not there just for looks.

Solid timber naturally expands and contracts as conditions change. The breadboards run across the grain of the main door and help keep the large solid timber panel flat and stable, while still allowing for that natural timber movement.

It's an important part of how we construct our doors from solid timber and one of those details where function ends up becoming part of the finished design.

So while those horizontal pieces have become part of the Drift's distinctive appearance, there's a very practical reason they're there!

Sometimes solving a practical problem is what makes the final design even more epic than if it wasn't there in the first place.

For this modern farmhouse kitchen, a support beam needed to be incorporated into the design of the island benchtop. Rather than trying to work around it, we designed these beautiful chunky timber legs to disguise the beam and make it feel like it had always been part of the plan.

The benchtop itself was crafted from 60mm thick recycled Messmate, with plenty of natural feature and character throughout the timber.

We love how substantial it feels in this space and how beautifully the warmth of the Messmate works with the modern white farmhouse style kitchen.

A beautiful American Oak Inverloch vanity has had its final polish and is ready to head off to its new home!
