An old unused flour mill in Tocumwal, New South Wales.

In 1911, two brothers, Henry George Wise and Thomas Walter Wise purchased land and erected a flour mill adjacent to the Victorian rail line at Tocumwal, NSW.

It was a 13-sack roller mill which commenced operation in 1913. The two original 10,000 bushel wheat silos at this mill were the first ferro-concrete silos erected in New South Wales - designed and built by John Monash.

Our communities couldn’t function without the work that is done by our volunteers. We would like to say thank you to all volunteers in our community and what better way to recognise their efforts than by nomintaing them for NSW Volunteer of the Year!

Do you know a volunteer who should be recognised? Here is your chance to say thank you.

Nominations for the NSW Volunteer of the Year Award are now open. This award recognises the outstanding efforts of volunteers in NSW and promotes the importance of their contributions. The awards distinguish the work of both individual volunteers and highlight the work of organisations in the community.

For more information and to find nomination forms, visit: https://www.volunteering.com.au/volunteer-awards/

Nominations close Friday 3 July, 2020 at 5pm

Five years ago we bought a block of land in our favourite country town, Tocumwal. We have spent almost every holiday camping on the Murray River in Tocumwal over the years so when this opportunity popped up it just made sense. Our dream was to build a holiday home that we could enjoy and share with our family and friends. While we’ve been busy starting our own family we’ve opened our home up to share with others too.

Click through to see the transformation of our patch of grass to the beautiful front yard we have today!
