🚜💧 Inspiring the next generation of local government professionals!

On Friday, Temora Shire Council welcomed 12 students from Ardlethan and Temora High Schools for a behind-the-scenes look at the diverse careers and services that help keep our community running.

Students heard from members of our Executive Team and participated in a Q&A session, gaining insight into the role of Council and the wide range of career pathways available. They also had the opportunity to hear firsthand from current and former engineering trainees about their experiences.

The group then visited Council’s Depot to learn about workshop operations before finishing the day with a tour of the Water Treatment Plant, where they gained an understanding of the processes involved in delivering safe and reliable water to our community.

A big thank you to our staff who generously shared their time and knowledge throughout the day, and to the students for their enthusiasm, thoughtful questions and genuine interest in learning more about the work Council does. We hope the experience provided valuable insight into the many career opportunities available within local government.

Temora Heritage Committee is undertaking a project to record oral histories of past and present staff who have worked in any capacity at Temora and District Hospital from 1940 to the present day.

The project aims to preserve the memories, experiences and contributions of staff members who have helped shape the hospital’s role in the community over many decades.

They are inviting former and current staff, as well as community members, to participate in recorded interviews or to share memorabilia, photographs and documents that may be copied for inclusion in an historical archive.

This archive may contribute to a future publication celebrating the people who have made Temora and District Hospital an important part of our community.
