A beautiful old miner’s cottage at Llanelly, tucked between Tarnagulla and Newbridge, just sitting there minding its own business like it’s got a hundred stories to tell! 😌

Weathered timber, rusted tin, long grass and that true “gold rush era” energy – you can almost hear boots on the floorboards and a kettle rattling away inside if you squint hard enough! 🏚️

One of those places that makes you slow down for a second and remember how much history is just quietly hanging around the bush if you bother to look! 👀

That old Wesleyan church in Tarnagulla might be hollow, but it’s packed with history – a proper ghost of the gold rush days. 🕍

The "hollow church" at Tarnagulla 📸 The striking remains of the Wesleyan Methodist Church are an iconic feature of this gorgeous old gold rush town.

This beautiful old church, opened in 1865, is a must-see when passing through the town and is a fantastic subject for photography.

A fire destroyed much of the building in 2000, leaving the brick/stone remains we see today.

The church is situated on private property so visitors must not enter, but you will get a great view from the roadside.

It was a top day out for the Central Goldfields PMAV crew at Waanyarra – between Dunolly, Tarnagulla, Laanecoorie and Eddington – with a solid turnout of members and a few new faces joining in on the fun!⛏️

The detectors were humming, and there were some exciting finds – including a tidy little nugget tipping the scales at 1.3 grams and a snake buckle in surprisingly good nick! ✨

Big shoutout to David for leading the trip, and to Bryan and Carol for keeping everyone fed and happy with a ripper cook-up. This pic was snapped by Kay McCord, who captured the day perfectly! 🙏🏻

A couple of cheeky firewood bandits thought they’d pulled a sneaky job in Tarnagulla State Forest, chopping down ironbarks and loading up their white Nissan tipper like nobody’d notice.

Trouble is, Taskforce Ironbark were hot on their trail, and by the time the boys made it all the way over to Drouin in Gippsland – nearly 300 clicks away – the law was waiting.

Turns out they weren’t just after a few logs for the fireplace either, they’d hacked down a stack of ironbarks, the same trees that Swift Parrots rely on to survive.

The cops rolled in, seized the truck and a phone, and shut the whole op down. As Taskforce boss Brady Childs put it, you can’t just knock off half a forest and think you’ll slip under the radar.

Rodney Marchant snapped this stunning shot of a pebble cottage in Tarnagulla a few years back. And it’s a beauty! Full of charm, history, and that quiet country magic you just can’t fake. Good on ya, Rodney! 🪨🏚️

Yesterday at Waanyarra Recreation Reserve, the Prospectors & Miners Association of Victoria’s Central Goldfields branch hosted a lovely Easter gathering! 🐰

Around 30 people came along for token hunts, raffle prizes, a tasty lunch cooked by Brian and Carol, hot cross buns for afternoon tea – and even a curious family of kangaroos dropped in to say g’day! ⛏️
