Updating my profile photo to one a bit more recent! So while I’m here I thought I’d say hi 👋 and a give big thanks to this wonderful community and the amazing people I’ve met along the way. If we haven’t met or had a chat yet, my name is Jess and I’m the owner of The Island House, Mudjimba and I live here with my husband and our 2 kids. We absolutely adore our home and the community we live in 🌴 Building this home was a dream come true and all my creative ideas brought to life. I designed the home with the help of a local building designer who was very patient with me! And the interiors were designed solely by me as I went along the building process, hoping I’d made the right decisions 😅

In a previous life I was a swimwear designer and I had quite a bit of experience in doing business in Bali, so that’s where I sourced a lot of my unique home fixtures such as basins, baths, door handles and brass fixtures. I also designed and had the outdoor furniture custom made in Bali. There is so much creative inspiration to take away from the Island, if you haven’t been I highly encourage you to go!

I genuinely love sharing our home with creatives 🩷 Location hire was the perfect fit for us. The Pool House is the most beautiful and calming space and from all our feedback, guests have loved their experience here. We just want you to feel relaxed, content in the presence of being right here right now 🌺

People always ask how on earth I keep the living room looking this tidy all the time 🤣 it’s constantly picking up toys as well as having a media/toy room that the kids can messy up all they like! It doesn’t look like this ALL the time but it doesn’t take too much work to keep it photo shoot ready either 🌸

I love feature colour plants in a home! Mine are a mix of soft & bright shades of pink 🌸🌺🌸

Pink just goes so well with the neutral house paint colour and pops against the soft blue waterline tile. I’m currently growing a bright pink bougainvillea over the front gate entrance & I can’t wait to show you. Does anyone else think that plants really add that special style to a home? Or at least just make up happy looking at them 😁🌼

▫️The Laundry ▫️

Living on the Sunshine Coast, the one thing I’ve never owned is a clothes dryer, am I crazy!? Let me know in the comments 😂👇

I’ve always been able to keep on top of the washing pile however the past two wet seasons have been a struggle with the constant heavy rain for days even weeks! We had to use the laundromat to dry the sheets a couple of times last year but I’ve still not caved and bought a dryer 😅

(Plus I didn’t design the laundry to accommodate one). 💩
