TODAYโS LESSON FOR ALL THE โI HARDLY USE MY BOATโ GUYSโฆ
Some people might not know this but outboards actually ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ถ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐ณ๐ฎ๐๐๐ฒ๐ฟ ๐ณ๐ฟ๐ผ๐บ ๐น๐ฎ๐ฐ๐ธ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐๐ฒ than from regular use. Yep, letting it sit is worse than running it hard.

Modern petrol goes bad quick, weโre talking a few months. It turns gummy, clogs injectors and carbs, and starts corroding everything from the inside. If youโre not using a stabilizer, youโre basically creating varnish soup in your fuel system.
๐ฎ. ๐ข๐ถ๐น ๐๐ถ๐น๐บ ๐๐ฟ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป-๐ข๐ณ๐ณ
When your motor sits, all that protective oil drains away from cylinder walls and bearings. Next thing you know, rust creeps in, rings start sticking, and when you finally fire it upโฆ that grinding noise isnโt โcharacterโ itโs damage.

Those hoses, gaskets, and impellers donโt stay young forever. If your motorโs been sitting for a year or two, chances are theyโre drying, cracking, or crumbling the moment you try to use them.

Saltwater left in the system + time = corrosion and blockages. Next time you start it, youโre one run away from overheating.

That โmint condition 2005 with only 80 hoursโ? Big red flag. Thatโs 5 hours a year... which means itโs been sitting most of its life. Stale fuel, dried rings, cracked rubber, you name it.
Now, a 2005 with 400 hours? Probably healthier. Itโs been run regularly, kept lubricated, and the internals are likely in far better shape.

Time kills motors... ๐ป๐ผ๐ ๐ต๐ผ๐๐ฟ๐.
Run it, maintain it, flush it, and itโll last. Let it sit? Youโre just aging it faster than you think.
Now tell us, whatโs the worst thing youโve seen happen from an outboard sitting too long?
