CQ Cabinetmakers was created back in the late 1980’s by Peter Hare and Robbie Norris. Peter Hare is the son of the late Jimmy Hare who founded Kawana Kitchens. Peter and Robbie had the shed built at 230 Alexandra Street, Kawana where the business continues to operate from today.
Des and Deborah Brown operated the business for 30 years creating a reputable name in Central Queensland. In 2016 they decided to retire and sold the business to their eldest son, Dan and his wife Penny.
Dan has been involved in the business since he was in nappies so it was inevitable that one day, he would step up as the third generation and take over the reigns.
Throughout his apprenticeship, Dan was fortunate to have been mentored by some of the most knowledgeable tradesman in the game such as Robbie Norris, Mark Bray, Lloyd Bendall, Ray Ames all of which have made him the tradesman he is today.
None more so than Des and Debbie’s Foreman of 17 years, Warren Irwin. Warren had high work ethics and expectations of his staff which at times, seemed tough but this laid the platform to a well run business with respect from his staff.
Dan and Penny knew when they took over from Des and Debbie they would have big shoes to fill. With perseverance and a lot of long hours, Dan and Penny made their own footsteps creating a fresh new brand and modernising the business.
Nearly eight years on with business going strong, Dan and Penny faced a hurdle with a significant rent rise that could not be sustained by their small business, subsequently making the decision to close their doors as of 30 June.
With a positive attitude and grateful for the time they had at their turn in the business, they feel things happen for a reason and this will allow them more time to enjoy family and friends.
Dan and Penny are forever grateful for the loyal customers private and Builders. The Sub Contractors;
Tops Elite, Garth Broadhurst, Grant Goltz, JMZ Constructions, Brendan Anderson, Jason Bray, Rawlinson Plumbing, Wren Plumbing, Bruce Dives and Ross Benham.
Thanks to Emma, who was integral to CQ Cabinetmakers for 10 years of designing, consulting and drafting.
Last but certainly not least their loyal and reliable team members;

* Jo, the second year apprentice who has a successful future ahead.
CQ Cabinetmakers could not have operated without their hard work and dedication.
