This gorgeous pair were a commission for a fabulous client. The dresser was her grandmother’s though it had been stored in a shed for 30 years!
The client had purchased a matching navy cupboard I posted a couple of months ago not realising it was the same furniture maker and style as her Nanna’s dresser in storage! The dresser was almost beyond repair for being in the shed for so long. But we really wanted to save it.
These were designed to match the navy cupboard as they would become part of a bedroom set. We kept the original legs as these reminded my client of her Nanna. There were only 4 and they were too long to go side by side so I cut them down and joined the curves. I had some similar legs in my collection that we used for the back 4 legs. Due to 30 years in a shed, every piece of wood and veneer were split and coming apart, requiring weeks of repair work.
We tried about 15 different handles, until I decided to refurnish the original ones to match. So we managed to rescue everything from her Nanna’s
dressing table right down to the hinges!
I love pieces like this that are sentimental and a part of someone’s family history. As much as this dressing table has been held onto for all these years, it was never going to be used again in someone’s house. Now my client has her favourite piece of furniture from her Nanna with all the memories she has of it in her own house. And they are such unique statement pieces that she gets to tell their story to anyone who sees them!

This tall mid century beauty was pretty neglected and in need of some repairs and a makeover.
Saved as much of the gorgeous teak as possible which compliments the metallic copper in the print. Finished in a deep smokey navy to match the mid century print.

Stunning mid century display cabinet! Gorgeous teak drawers with beautiful grain and look at those beautiful full length wave handles. The body in a custom deep blue. Mid century print lining the backboard in shades of blue, cream and metallic copper. Shelves and inside lining of display in teak. Beautiful original brass shelf supports and inserts. Solid teak original mid century legs.

The drawers / dresser are now ready to complete the set with the matching bedside tables. Timber edging framing all four drawers to match the gold capped timber legs. Finished in a deep teal colour. Gorgeous geometric print lining all the drawers and custom handmade mid century style pulls.

So many layers of old paint that had to be removed. Even all over the inside and outside edges of the drawers! Stripped back to reveal timber edging. New timber legs and custom made pulls. This gorgeous pair of bedside drawers are part of a set with the dresser / drawers coming next week. 😊

Gorgeous extra large bedside drawers.
Beautiful corner details, gold handles to match the modern gold legs. Finished in a soft seafoam blue with a pop of colour lining all the drawers.
