Mother Earth is our home, but it will only remain so if we're kinder to the environment. We depend on every living thing on this planet, just like how fish need clean water to survive, and animals need trees for shelter.

Thursday marks Earth Day with the event kicking off today with three days of climate action.

This year's theme, "Restore our earth" resonates well with us at PGT-Reclaimed in the way we've chosen to restore used wood for our furniture, instead of cutting down trees. That way we're protecting forests, the lungs of our earth, and contributing positively to reducing climate change.

Vale His Royal Highness Prince Philip. The world had lost a passionate advocate for the environment, a cause we at PGT-Reclaimed hold close to our hearts.

On the importance of protecting the environment, you said it best:

**Happy Birthday PGT-Reclaimed!​​​**​​​​​​

Today we celebrate 23 years of PGT-Reclaimed! That's 23 years since our Founder Ian Burden decided to create a business to design and manufacture premium lifestyle furniture from 100% reclaimed wood.

A lot has changed since then - we've introduced new designs and water-based finishes, our workforce has grown and strengthened, and we now supply to more than 20 countries worldwide - but what hasn't changed has been our original ethos of doing the right thing for the environment!

Thank you to the many people who continue to support us, from our world-wide supply chain, to consumers who choose to live a 'reclaimed' lifestyle.

Congratulations to Sam Fyfe from Brisbane who was the highest bidder of our Cornwall Bedding Suite at Friday's Care for Cancer Lunch!

Sam was actually the highest bidder of our Bondi Bedding Suite when we supported the event two years ago. Loving the furniture, she couldn't help but bid again so her daughter could also enjoy our furniture!

We're happy to support the Gold Coast Hospital Foundation's Care for Cancer Lunch for the second time, by providing a major auction prize of our Cornwall Bedding Suite, from one of PGT-Reclaimed's first collections! All the very best to organisers for the event tomorrow. We hope our suite helps you in raising much needed funds for cancer support services.

PGT-Reclaimed is proud of the strong female presence across our organisation, and the many women we engage with via our international supply chain.

One of these women is Yung Burden, PGT-Reclaimed's Brand and R&D Director. Yung has been instrumental to our growth with many initiatives, including leading the company's transition to finishes made from non-toxic, water-based materials.

To Yung, International Women's Day means: "...feeling appreciated as a woman for the work I've done throughout the business and I've been shown gratitude for my work, especially during the past year."

Of PGT-Reclaimed's 483-strong workforce in Vietnam, 247 are female, with 16 of our 26 leaders, women.

"We have many females in leadership roles at PGT. We feel they have a great attention to detail, and they have that female intuition to care for their team like a mother might nurse their children," Yung said.
