GLOW IN THE DARK BABY!

This project has been ongoing since April of this year. This was a wedding gift that I promised a good friend back in 2022.

Life got in the way most the time and theres heaps of mistakes here and there.

Very happy with this one even though this is just my 2nd furniture project for the year.

Have not posted anything in a reaaalllly long time. Between, getting sick, struggling with winter blues, and reigniting my passion with a chosen sport, the past 3-4 months has been busy!

But my current epoxy resin waterfall coffee table project is coming along nicely!

Wife requested 2 monitor stands for both her hobby table and office setup.

This one goes to her office setup. I could have built a straight forward mini table, but I couldn't help myself giving it a little bit extra!

First proper furniture build for the year. First time working with brass inlays and as usual, cabinet body is made from reclaimed australian hardwood from ReGrained Furniture

Ebonised cabinet case using india ink.

Doors are leftover spotted gum panels (from bunnings) that was a left over from a previous project.

Finished with hardwax oil white tint (doors) and clear satin (cabinet body) from Fiddes Australia

Recently finished another furniture for the house.

This is a bit of a departure from my usual recycled timber projects as these are mostly sheet goods from bunnings (mdf + spotted gum panels)

Dimensions are based on Ikea's Stall shoe cabinets. MDF is painted black and solid wood components are finished with Fiddes Hardwax Oil in clear satin.

I have not posted in a while but I recently finished the longest project I have ever made (in time and in length).

This media console unit measures in at 2.2 metres long. This project has tested my patience, creativity, and my small one car garage.

This project took me 12 months to finish (on and off) while I accumulated my essential power tools

All made from recycled Australian timbers. Cabinet case is dyed with india ink finished with two coats of Fiddes hardwax oil.

Made a couple of cheese slicer boards and an end grain cutting board.

I enjoyed the cheese slicer so much I may make more in the future if I need a last minute Christmas gift.

About a couple of months ago I bought the book “Animated Animal Toys in Wood” by David Wakefield.

The book contains 20 plans for wooden toys that walk wobble and roll. The first project that really stood out for me was a skunk (or maybe a squirrel) that waves its tail while being rolled.

I was fascinated by the design and so I made one as a gift for a friend’s active toddler.

I must say that wooden toy making has it’s own unique set of challenges compared to furniture making, but I was very happy how this one turned out

Decided to try some end-grain cutting boards to see what the craze is all about.

Needless to say, it was a lot of work, particularly sanding. I was so tempted to buy an entry level drum sander just so I can avoid the amount of work I have to do.

This maybe the first and last batch of these that I will do for the year. These ones will be going out as gifts for friends and family
