🐾 The Power of Passive Touch 🐾

Before a massage begins, I often start with something simple—passive touch.

This gentle, still contact helps your dog feel safe, relaxed, and comfortable before any hands-on work takes place.

✨ Helps build trust and connection
✨ Encourages relaxation and reduces stress
✨ Allows me to assess tension and comfort levels
✨ Supports nervous system regulation
✨ Helps dogs become more receptive to massage

Every dog is different, and taking the time to listen to what their body is telling us is an important part of the process.

Sometimes the greatest benefit starts with simply slowing down, being present, and allowing your dog to relax.

Mickie Magan Equine Herbalist is awesome herbalist & therapist. If your interested in knowing how & what for your horse - hit her up 👌

Anxiety in horses is a complex issue.
I had a client last week whose horse was simply not maintaining her weight.
She was jumpy, restless and was difficult to tack up and ride. When ridden, she was leaping about and not listening to the rider.

When a horse is in flight or fight mode, it engages the parasympathetic nervous system.
The physiology of this is that the body shuts down blood flow to the “non- essential “ body systems.

One of these systems is the gastrointestinal system.
When the horse is in perpetual fight or flight, the gastrointestinal system cannot do its job efficiently.

Blood flow is diverted to the large muscles to give the horse the ability to flee.
The problem is exacerbated when the fight or flight is switched on all the time. The trickle down effect is that stress can create more acid in the gut which can contribute to gut ulcers.

When the gut isn’t working correctly, nutrient uptake is compromised and the horse may be missing out on essential nutrients which will show in poor condition or weight loss.

Her mum and I had a long discussion about finding the root cause of her anxiety. She is making some changes for the horse and her living arrangement to help her be less anxious.
The mare has been put on a herbal mixture to help support the nervous system.

Do you know why you can only see blue and red light in our therapy products? 🤔

It's because the visible light spectrum sits between 400nm and 700nm. That's everything our eyes can actually see, from blue through to red.

Our 660nm red light sits right at the longer end of that visible spectrum, which is why you can see it glowing when it's in use. 🔴

But our near infrared light sits beyond 700nm, which means it's completely invisible to the human eye. You won't see it, but it's absolutely still working. Penetrating deeper into the tissue than any visible wavelength can reach. ⚫

Pretty cool hey?
