FAMILY LEFT WITH HALF A TREE AFTER 'PETTY' DISPUTE
Everybody needs good neighbours, right?
Well, one English family has learned that sage lesson the hard way after their next-door neighbours chopped off every branch of a 5-metre tree that crossed onto their property.
According to Bharat Mistry, the fir tree stood proudly in their front yard for about 25 years, before his elderly neighbours complained last year about the number of birds nesting in it.
"We'd trimmed into a ball shape with agreement with the neighbour and he has been fine about it," Mistry told the Yorkshire Post.
But after flocks of birds made a mess in their driveway, Mistry's neighbours called in tree surgeons to remove every single tree branch hanging over their block of land.
The semi-circular tree that remained has now become a tourist attraction in Waterthorpe, south of Sheffield.
In NSW, you are allowed to cut back problem branches or roots that spread onto your property, so long as it's not more than 10% of the tree or if it's not a protected species.
