Welcome to The Folly

Building The Folly has been a lifelong dream for owners, Cindy & Steve Edwards. It was designed and built using traditional timber framing techniques. The magnficent timber frame which stands as a centrepiece to this beautiful property, took Steve almost 6 months to cut and join. Once in place, more than 12 tonnes of sandstone and 60 saw logs were brought in to complete the build, with timber which was destined for firewood before it was rescued. Cindy and Steve chose zincalume corrugated steel for the ceiling, which has been thoroughly insulated for maximum energy efficiency. The glorious sandstone feature wall was built entirely by Cindy. The cedar double-hung windows were crafted by Steve and feature traditional weights and pulleys, double glazed and sealed to prevent draughts. Cindy and Steve’s careers have taken them back to Melbourne. For the time being, they have opened up this beautiful, unique “off grid” home for guests to come and enjoy its beautiful charm, character, and the undulating hills that surround The Folly.
