What a joy to receive these glorious photos of Yellow Diva furniture recently delivered to a customer in Utrecht. In addition to the two new CL3 chaise longues, commissioned in complimentary shades of blue Kvadrat Divina, we were delighted to also spot a vintage YD piece by the window: a scarlet S3 ottoman (with the sweetest dog taking in the view of the garden like a scene captured by Hockney).

Yellow Diva has long been admired in the Netherlands. The brand was represented in the early days by Casper Vissers (later of Moooi) who curated a solo exhibition of the C & S Series at Amsterdam’s famous design gallery space The Frozen Fountain in the late nineties.

A nice full-circle moment.

Not so very different from the furniture design industry. “Other local designers, emerging and established, have taken a survival-of-the-smallest approach and traded ambitions of scale for slowness and sustainability.”

In the 1990s and 2000s Alannah Hill, Alice McCall and Sass & Bide became household names. Now Australians buy more clothes than ever but few are made or even designed locally. Where did it come undone?
