Congratulations to our Design Director Justin Hutchinson for winning the people-industrial design category for the 2023 Design Anthology Awards!
For over two decades, Justin Hutchinson has shaped contemporary design in homes, offices, and streets. His work champions Australian design and manufacturing. Early collaborations with Tait, his collections like Stripe, Kink, Nano, and Jak and Jil became iconic. He has also founded Urban Commons, creating the versatile Tilt outdoor kitchen and sustainable urban concepts.
With Kett, Justin has developed signature indoor collections that utilise local makers and quality materials. In 2020, acknowledging the growing rental market, Justin developed a wall-hung joinery for Kett – a robust storage system that can be disassembled and relocated. Called ‘Frame’ the system is made in Australia free of formaldehyde, phenols, solvents, PVC or melamine.
Justin’s collections have been specified into noteworthy local and international projects, including The Australian Embassy in Washington DC, the Google HQ Singapore, Melbourne, Swinburne and Monash University, Melbourne Bar Arbory & the Brunswick Nightingale Precinct, alongside countless residential homes.
Justin's lasting contribution to Australian design shines through his adaptability, innovation, and dedication to enhancing our living spaces.
