Half way to being done with the uni clinic thing. 🏫

I’m very surprised how much I’ve enjoyed the clinic days, having had a nearly full load of folks to practice on each block (much to my surprise)and find some of the blooming parts of my clinical herbalist vibe.

Herbal medicine students only spend 2 trimesters in clinic, so I’m trying to soak up this experience knowing it’ll be over in a flash. I’ve been a combo tired and frazzled, chirpy and grateful.

Here’s my reflections and some perspectives that have got me through, relatively unscathed, by a sometimes conflicting/hard to love learning institution.

🌿BYO delicious herbal infusions every day, to remind you of simple herbal goodness, and also cos you won’t touch many herbs in this particular clinic.
🌿Load up on allllll the nervous system tinctures and teas, do the self care stuff available to you.
🌿Try be comfy with being challenged by supervisors and get comfy with saying I don’t know. They there to help.
🌿 Ask so many questions of other students and supervisors, it’s such a rare environment to be surrounded by people that love what you love, yet approach things differently.
🌿Everyone is navigating very different capacities and a little friendly encouragement means the world to others.
🌿 Know that I have the rest of my herbal life to ‘do things differently’ and at a different pace to what we’re taught. Clinic can be far too fast paced to properly take in what’s going on in depth. I have walked out on a few occasions and thought “what just happened?”
🌿 Note areas that you’d like to learn more about after study is done - a few that stand out for me include energetics of herbs, trauma informed care, supporting folks beyond gender binaries, and anti-diet nutrition. Feel free to tell me where you go to learn these things and I’ll tell you too! Got a list.

Living extracts 2-day course with Taj from was a hoot. 🦉

Had so much fun hanging with big herb nerds and learning new fun tincture and percolation math, to go a level deeper on my medicine making and dispensary building when I’m finished studying . 💗

There’s an online offering and also a couple more in person coming up. Go along if you’re fairly-new to fairly-experienced, always something new to learn and herb people to be inspired by. 🌿🍵

Cute visual recap of our first three months of living on Wurundjeri country, hitting nearly half way mark of my final 6 months of Clinical Herbalism studies on campus, finding some time for new hobbies, walks and getaways with pals and enjoying a cosy/quiet time off the farm with my dude.

Growing 0 herbs at the moment but learning the practices of clinical herbalism and sewing is keeping this herb farmer satisfied while city dwelling. A bit of roadside foraging once a month is keeping the medicine maker in me happy until I can return to growing.

🧵🍵

I’m almost half way through my first trimester in clinic at uni already. If you’d like to book in with me, you can do that by reading my last post.

Thanks to the couple of folks that have booked in and kept me busy working on case analysis and treatment plans instead of sewing, I’m really enjoying me self. 🪡

If you’re new to my page or don’t see much from me, I’m taking a break from herb shop offerings, seasonal herb boxes, workshops and community events in 2026.

I’m heading to Naarm in a few days until mid September, where I’ll be finishing off my Herbal Medicine studies at Torrens Uni.

I’ll miss my home and garden patch on the West coast, and I’ll no doubt be getting into all sorts of herbal trouble over east + building my clinical skills.

If you want to keep up, I reckon join my mail list. Social media sorta definitely is crashing and no one sees any of the good things anymore. If you’re on my mail list, you’ll hear from me about booking in at the student clinic (low cost appointments offered in person and on telehealth), and my eventual return to my previous offerings & all the new ones to pop up in future years.

My goal for 2026 is to throw myself into my studies and gain as many clinic skillz as possible whilst under in person supervision. Oh, learn to sew and to eat many bowls of noodles.

My long ass term goal is to open a clinic back here in WA with a strong focus on increasing folks access to herbal care through low cost services, with herbs grown and processed on the farm. If this sounds like something you want to see happen and support, hop over to my 🕸️ so I can reach ya via email. If you’re also a herbalist or nat who wants to join me, we should do that. 👀

Love ya.

After 2 full years of herb shop offerings, my herb garden and shop is going on a long hiatus. 🌼🥹

Here’s a collection of some of my favourite moments; heavily featuring my hilarious collection of private herb selfies from the garden and making bench..

Including: First harvests of plants I’ve waited a few years to grow and make with, harvest days with friends, community medicine making fundraisers, label making, herb tea blending, garden bed weeding, creating a new garden, marvelling at Calendula oil colour, raiding neighbours gardens for lavender, smelling roses, sitting in the garden observing, watching jars of tincture macerate with anticipation, packing your lil orders and so much more. Growing, making and sharing medicines with my community has brought so many moments of meaning and joy. These herbs have supported me so deeply along the way, with a small tincture bottle or pot of herbs always close by. 🍵

I look forward to coming back in 2027 with more offerings as a qualified community/clinical herbalist. For now, putting a close on this chapter of herb growth, making, experimenting, trial and error, and offering herbal medicines in this way. 😭

Thanks to everyone that has sent your support, orders, told friends, emailed me a love note, come to a workshop or market, asked questions, shared information and resources, sent herb stoke or just enjoyed from afar. ❤️‍🔥

We celebrated Solstice/Christmas with our gang at the social farm today and it was bloody special. 🎁❣️

We also wished a few members happy birthday, had an award ceremony (2nd year hit), shared food and secret santa game, harvested lots of produce and planted/staked/mulched and weeded vege.

We’re so thankful for each other and our magical little community food space. 🌿🥒
