Tradies take note!

120,000Km Log Book Service and front brake upgrade done and dusted on this late model Toyota Hilux 4x4.

This vehicle is used to tow a large trailer carrying an excavator throughout the week, and was suffering from brake noise and vibration due to high heat damage caused by the weight of the excavator.

We installed a new set of performance DBA slotted disc rotors and new Bendix brake pads, which will better suit the usage of the vehicle by handling the higher brake temperatures generated while towing. We also flushed the brake system during the service, with new Penrite Brake Fluid which will prevent any brake fade/failure occurring from the old fluid boiling.

Welcome to 2023! 🎉

Our first job of the new year is one that has been a long time coming, and one that is very close to our hearts.

An iconic car of the 70’s Aussie muscle car era, this 1971 Holden Monaro GTS was owned by my Papou since 1972, until he passed on the keys about 10 years ago. The car has been hiding in storage ever since, awaiting some much needed TLC to bring it back to life.

We took some leave in the first week of the new year to spend some time bringing the old girl out of retirement, by removing the tired old engine and transmission, giving the engine bay a tidy up with some minor rust repairs and fresh paint, and now the beast has finally been given a new heart.

A rebuilt 350 chev engine with some mild performance work has been paired with a brand new turbo 350 transmission, a combination which should see plenty of power under the foot, and a great sound to go with it - both which will perfectly suit this classic old streeter.

It’s my honour and privilege to resurrect my Papous favourite car, along with the help of family and friends. Still a fair amount of work to go, but this project is sure to keep on creating awesome memories, much like those I have of riding around Sydney in the back seat as a kid. We can’t wait to see his face when it rolls back into his driveway!

We are back from leave now and on the road again as of today, and we look forward to seeing you all throughout the year for the servicing and maintenance of your pride and joy!

Today’s office 😍

Not all days and job locations are as picturesque as this, and truth be told this was our first of two starter motor replacements today on broken down vehicles. The second one was done rolling around in the dirt, sadly not at the waterfront..... we thought you’d much rather see this one instead 🤪 enjoy!

The vehicles getting some routine servicing and TLC today - lucky we know a guy right 👀😂

How good is our little supervisor though?! She had to wear a rain jacket and gumboots just in case it rained, so we could go and “jump in muddy puddles together!” 😍😍 (Thanks Peppa Pig 🤦🏼‍♂️😅)

It was all fun and games though until she realised she wasn’t in her matching work shirt with daddy - it was at that point I got into some real trouble.. I’ve been officially put on notice - it’s not to happen again. Duly noted little lady! 😂

In our first week taking part in the Pawgust challenge walking our pups daily to raise money for the amazing work done by , has walked a total of 30km, taken over 41,000 steps, and raised over $400 - our original goal was only $250! 💪🏻💪🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻 Thank you to all of our “suppawters” so far! 🐾😅

Our team effort with has seen us all collectively walk 187km, and raise almost $2300 so far!

There’s still a few weeks of August left and plenty of time to jump on board - any donation is welcome, big or small.

🎵 I can see clearlyyy now the fade is goneeee!! 😅

The front end of this 2009 Mazda CX-9 was starting to look pretty tired, as the head lights have not only seen 220,000km of driving, but more importantly 12 years of harsh Australian weather! The sun damage had become so bad that the lights were no longer legal as they restricted majority of the light trying to pass through the lens. Is replacement the best option here? 🤔

There are plenty of head light restoration kits on the market (and we’ve tried all of the good ones!) not to mention there’s a bunch of YouTube tutorials with people using things like toothpaste under glad wrap, 2 minute noodles, oranges and everything else you could think of 🤦🏼‍♂️ but sadly these are all gimmicks and temporary fixes. Most times those who have had their lights restored will tell you that they have faded again, and quite quickly - usually within a week or two and can sometimes look worse than they did in the first place!

We are pleased to say though that we’ve invested in a new method of chemically refinishing damaged and faded head lights, and the results we’ve experienced so far are not only amazing, but allow us to align the service with our 12 month/20,000km warranty, guaranteeing the finish quality!

Moral of the story - why replace when you can repair and re-finish properly?!

There are plenty of great causes and charities out there, and with everything else that’s currently going on in the world it’s too easy to become wrapped up in our own lives and forget the ones you don’t often hear about.

We are proud to say though that we have teamed up with our good friends at Apprenticeships R Us this month to raise some much needed money for a great cause, Guide Dogs Australia 🐶

This “Pawgust” has committed to heading out every day to walk our dogs for a minimum 45 minutes. Rain, hail, shine - we will be out there to get it done, and while it sounds easy enough, so far every night has been freezing!!! 🥶🥶🥶

Every dollar raised goes towards supporting those in our community who are affected by blindness or low vision, who can be supported in life by the fantastic work that is done by Guide Dogs Australia. There will be a lot of people hit really hard with this newest announcement of tough restrictions, mostly our family, friends and neighbours in Sydney’s South West, and we are certainly no exception to that.

While Government assistance is on offer, it will take a lot more than that to get a lot of small businesses through this difficult period.
