Workshop Wonder! 😵‍💫

How was your saw running when it last got stored?

We cracked out the digital crayons to show off a challenging one this week. It ran fine until the engine was put under load where it was dying at high revs. Pressure testing the engine showed no fault with the engine or seals, so it was time to tear it down and see what we could physically see. 🤓🫣

We found a seal moving behind the flywheel. Over time and with the heat stress during use allowed a buildup around the cooling fins of the cylinder. The rubber seals go very hard and begin to slide in and out of their location. As the machine is idling or running under 'no load' conditions it can run fine, but under load the cylinder pressures force the seal out allowing the engine to 'lean' out. What does that mean? In simple terms the engine doesn't get enough of the fuel/oil mix as it escapes through the seal so it doesn't run as the fuel just isn't there to burn. Once the engine is allowed to 'relax' it runs normal again.

Remember we service and repair most makes and models of Outdoor Power Equipment no matter the age or what shape it is in. So long as parts can be ordered or manufactured and you are prepared for the costs that will be incurred. We always do our best to inspect and give you an estimate before we carry out any major works so you know where you stand before we proceed with the repairs.

Workshop Wonder!! 😖

Problem with the parts fitted in a previous service? Don't hack at it yourself, it makes it very difficult to warrant with our parts suppliers 😵‍💫 Bring the machine back and let us inspect why the failure occured. As you can see with the images attached someone has damaged the bowl nut on this recently fitted carburettor that failed for reasons unkown as it was disassembled and incorrectly reassembled before we could inspect.

You won't always know we know someone else has been there, but there will be signs 🫣
