🏆 Sweep Superyachts has been awarded the Gold Coast Business Excellence Environment & Sustainability Award for August.

We’re extremely proud of this achievement and, most importantly, proud of the team behind it.

Environmental responsibility is something we take seriously at Sweep Superyachts. From the way we manage waste and contaminants through to the systems and processes we use across our refit and repair work, the team continues to push for better outcomes every day.

We’re now in the running for Business of the Year – Environment & Sustainability, with the winner to be announced at the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards Gala on 21 November.

It’s nice to be recognised for the work we’re doing, and a huge thank you to the Gold Coast Business Excellence Awards judges and organisers.

Most importantly — well done to our team. This one is yours. 👏

Pump it, don’t dump it. 🌱

Lots of work across all three divisions this week!

Sweep Marine Racing continues the final push for WildOne, with the rudder installation by AME and the carbon mast and boom coming down for service and modifications by JCMS Rigging. Exciting times ahead!

Sweep Superyachts is pumping at Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard, with the Mahaya and Willow projects keeping the crew busy. At The Boat Works Gold Coast, regular customer MY Sirenuse is in town for RINA survey tank works, while MY Tango gets settled in for tank servicing next week.

Over at Rivergate Marina and Shipyard, the gorgeous SY Thalia is in after a long trip from Mexico, with the Sweep crew carrying out tank cleaning in a very tight and highly technical tunnel.

Sweep Workboats is also pumping! At GCCM, Tug Frank Wilson is in for a 21-day docking. In Brisbane, the PT Mary project started in-water a week earlier, while at Rivergate a Border Force tender is being blasted and painted by the Sweep crew and Millennium Marine for MPS. The team also pumped out Barge Lakama for our regular customer SeaLink.

The newly formed Sweep Industrial Coatings division just completed a multi week project in BNE at Queensland Bulk Terminal with two grain hoppers refurbished in time for new vessel arrival.

The blast and paint booth is pumping as well, with various components moving through the facility.

Happy days! 💪🏼⚓️

We kicked things off a little differently this week, with part of the Sweep team completing a 3-day Confined Space Rescue Refresher course to keep there certifications up to date at our GCCM factory with Vertical Horizonz and their mobile training unit.

Confined space is a big part of what we do every week, so getting the crew hands-on with the rescue side of it was a great way to build on the training and experience they already bring to site.

Outside of training, the jobs kept moving across every corner of the schedule - with a strong mix of tank works, coatings, fuel polishing, barge support and refit scopes across the yards.

MV Rino at The Boat Works Gold Coast and Quantum at Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard both had barge works underway this week, with anchor and chain removal and returns completed across both jobs. Also at Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard, Nancy Jean was in for fuel polishing, with 9,500L polished through the system.

Up at The Yard Brisbane, MY Glaze finished up its steering flats refinish, including Decidamp application, while over at Rivergate Marina and Shipyard, Kokomo II continued through tank works, with black tank spot repairs now close to completion.

Works also continued on the Carnival Cruises rescue boat at Pacific Marine Base, with fibreglass repairs and coatings underway on parts, and down at Harwood Marine, Aurora V is now in the final stages with deck coatings almost complete.

A solid effort from the team this week!

Big week across all three Sweep divisions.

In NSW, Sweep Workboats has been busy at GCBoatyards Coffs Harbour, with a fishing vessel encapsulated for underwater repairs. Back at Harwood Marine, the Aurora V project continues in-water, with deck coatings and non-skid works underway. In QLD, the team at our Brisbane base is finalising coatings for a Carnival Cruises rescue boat and PT Kotor, and the blast bay stays full with various parts coming through.

Sweep Superyachts has been pumping on the Gold Coast, with Mahaya and Willow both well underway. At The Boat Works Gold Coast, Sea Raes is getting a fresh bilge coating in the steering flats, while up at The Yard Brisbane, MY Glaze is nearing the end of its 20-year refit, with anti-vibration coatings applied in the steering flats.

And Sweep Marine Racing has had a big week too, with Wild One coming out of the water for the final stage of its refit - keel and rudder installation at the Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard keel pit.

Three divisions, multiple yards, and a serious amount happening across the board.

Today the crew completed CPR and First Aid refresher training at our Gold Coast base with Wendy from Marine Medical Solutions - an important part of keeping the team prepared, confident and safe across the kind of work we do every day.

With confined spaces, tank works, blasting, coatings, fuel systems, pump outs and large-scale refits all part of the weekly schedule, keeping safety knowledge fresh is just as important as the work happening on the tools.

The training was followed by our monthly team BBQ and training session, bringing everyone together to go over key updates, share a feed and recognise a few of the team members who have gone above and beyond over the past month.

A good chance to reset, refresh and give credit where it’s due - because the jobs only happen because of the people behind them.

Big week across Brisbane and the Gold Coast for the Sweep team.

Up and down the Brisbane River, the crew has been moving through a solid mix of works - including the refurbishment of two grain hoppers for Queensland Bulk Terminals, while lifeboat repairs continue at the Brisbane International Cruise Terminal for Carnival Cruises.

Over at Rivergate Marina and Shipyard, MY Jaciri is getting ready for a six-week stint, while PT May is now in the final stages of docking. In our Brisbane yard, blasting and painting works were carried out as part of a small defence program, with all components on track to be finalised next week.

On the Gold Coast, seven superyacht projects kept the crew busy between The Boat Works Gold Coast and Gold Coast City Marina & Shipyard. From tank laminating and leak detection through to thermal coatings application, the team has been moving through a wide range of specialist works across multiple vessels.

A huge effort across a very mixed week - plenty of moving parts, plenty of different scopes, and to top it all off, a demolition job using ultra high pressure water as a cutting method to help keep dust and contaminants down. A new approach to this kind of work, and a solid example of the team adapting to the job in front of them.
