When we first walked through Ashmore Community Children’s Centre, you could feel it straight away.
The tracks were worn in from years of little feet.
The space had history.
It had been properly used… and loved.
Not every project starts with a clean slate.
This one came with a responsibility to understand it first.
What’s working.
What’s been lost.
Where it’s starting to fall short.
We didn’t treat it as a renovation—more a series of careful adjustments.
Strengthening what was already there.
Leaving the parts that mattered… untouched.
There’s something honest about older playgrounds.
They show you what kids actually use, not what we think they will.
This one just needed a bit of care to breathe new life and magic into it. #
