Everyone loves curved lines, but have you asked yourself WHY?
No, it is not because they are in trend, although there will always be people who are afraid to try something new.
It goes all the way back to our childhood, when we first experienced corners as being something that can hurt us.
A rounded end will instinctively feel SAFER.
We used to spend a lot more time outdoors back then...remember?
A line that is not perfectly straight feels more "NATURAL", reminding us of the perfect imperfections in nature.
Then...why so many straight lines in our buildings?
Well, leaving the ease and efficiency in construction aside, we humans need a bit of order and the feeling of control in order to feel good. Visual alignments help with that.
In a world bombarding us with competing images, our brain needs the space to pause. Clean lines, straight lines that we can easily process and interpret will help with that.
So... where do we use curved elements and how much is too much? No single correct answer.
We would suggest that starting the process with asking questions around what is achieved through that detail is the right way to go about this.
