A fresh start without starting from scratch.

Our client wanted to freshen up her kitchen while keeping the existing tiled floor… but there were a few areas of the old layout that simply weren’t working.

We reworked the awkward fridge and pantry area, added two pantries with internal drawers and a microwave nook, shifted the oven beneath the cooktop, and made better use of the space with large drawers and cabinetry to the ceiling.

Soft green cabinetry, warm timber, stone benchtops and textured subway tiles completely changed the feel of the room, with clean detailing and integrated lighting finishing it off.

Same footprint. Better use of the space, plenty more storage, and a whole new personality.

One of the greatest compliments we can receive is being invited back.

Over the last three years, we’ve completed five separate projects for these clients, creating seven individual pieces of custom joinery along the way.

From one room to the next, we’ve maintained a connection through colour, materials and detailing, while designing each piece individually for its purpose and space. Different projects, completed at different times, but with a consistent style throughout.

The kitchen from our last post is the most recent addition.

There’s a lot more going on in this BRILLIANT kitchen than first meets the eye.

Mitred stone wraps around the island and boxed legs, with the veining carefully matched as it continues from one face to the next. The timber bar back brings a touch of warmth to an otherwise cool palette, while hand-crafted sharknose profiles give the dark woodgrain cabinetry its sleek, understated finish.

Behind the clean lines are matching woodgrain drawers, a roller-door appliance cabinet and storage worked into almost every available space.

The curved rangehood is finished in microcement to flow into the surrounding walls, giving it presence without breaking up the palette.

A lot of different materials and details, all brought together locally to complement rather than compete.

Handcrafted from 4 pieces of mahogany, this 4-metre table makes a bold statement in the space. With its own character and presence, it’s more than a centrepiece, it’s what gives the room its identity.

Alongside the table, we completed the bar and service joinery, screening and a set of barn doors, bringing together the details for Darwin’s newest restaurant bluehole.steakhouse

Chris and I were invited to the exclusive first taste of Darwin’s newest restaurant bluehole.steakhouse after doing the joinery fitout for this project.

A minimalist kitchen where the details are deliberately understated.

Seamless handles, a custom stainless-steel benchtop with integrated sink and drainer, and appliances tucked quietly into the cabinetry, a hidden Liebherr freezer and Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer.

Finished in Absolute Matte and paired with handcrafted Japanese lady finger tiles, this kitchen is as much about what you don’t see as what you do.

With a view of Nightcliff’s iconic foreshore, we renovated this units small and tired original kitchen, and replaced it with the new heart of the home. Swipe through to see the close ups and details, as well as the before photos!

One thing I really liked about this KTM Builders home was the hidden walk in pantry and laundry.

With the doors closed, it looks like a normal pantry cabinet. Open them up and they lead through to a separate room behind the kitchen, a clever design feature that keeps everything neatly tucked away.

We completed the custom joinery throughout the home, from the kitchen and pantry to the vanities, laundry and wardrobes

The best kitchens are the ones that work best for the people who use them.

For this renovation, we kept the layout our client loved and delivered a completely new kitchen, finished with two-pack painted cabinetry, Caesarstone benchtops and splashback, and Blum hardware.

We also coordinated the entire renovation, managing every trade from demolition through to completion.
