We offer a large variety of services such as Kiln Drying, Milling and Custom Furniture to suit the clients specifications. leback Gallery in Bilpin, we offer custom design furniture, we pride ourselves on quality craftsmanship & design. We believe each unique piece of furniture or artwork has a story to tell. Daniel Koles is the craftsman and designer at The Fiddleback Gallery and is also a Carpenter / Joiner by trade with 23+ years experience. Daniel's main interests are working with rare and unique, reclaimed or sustainable timbers that are highly figured and have unique characteristics such as, birdseye, butt, curly, burl, swirl, mottle, stripe, cluster or our favorite, fiddleback features. Almost all our furniture has a natural , organic edge as we feel it maintains the history & natural curvature of the timber. We have many timber varieties, some of our favorites being, Mountain Ash, Red Gum, Red Box, Blue Gum, River She-oak, Peppermint, Rosewood just to name a few. Our timbers are finished with high quality oils and varnishes to bring out the incredible coloring of each unique piece. We are excited to uncover the many secrets hidden within the wood grain & bring those stories to you and future generations of the families who will love them.

It was ‘All Aboard’ for our special delivery of this gorgeous slab picnic table to the iconic Zig Zag Railway today.
This table was made out of local salvaged timber from the black summer bushfires of 2019!
We hope many passengers will enjoy the great food at the Zigzag cafe and get the opportunity to sit have a yarn and relax around this lovely table for many years to come.

Dan took some time out from cutting timber in the sawmill to build these very sweet rustic benches. I think they look absolutely fantastic and can’t wait to see them at their new home Marigold Cottage, Little Hartley, NSW .

Our Sawmill is located in Clarence which is situated in the beautiful Blue Mountains and is also home to the iconic Zigzag Railway.
The Clarence community as well as the Zigzag Railway faced absolute devastation during the Black Summer Bushfires in December 2019.
Today as I write this I am delighted to hear the sounds of the steam train known affectionately as ‘the Yank’🚂 chugging and tooting along nearby , the station itself has been wonderfully renovated and we are proud to have played a small part in this.
Would you believe that the gorgeous feature beam was salvaged from a fire damaged power pole and the ticket desk made of salvaged and repurposed railway sleepers?
to us they are a reminder that the Sawmill, the Zigzag railway and the Clarence community are a resilient bunch! After all , I think it was Henry Kissinger who once said “A diamond 💎 is just a chunk of coal that did well under pressure”.
