Part 2: Blackwood slab table at home in Red Hill was made from a single log salvaged from Gippsland. Our intent was to maintain the natural characteristic of the log in the finished table which resulted in its striking shape and cut outs.

The table is 2.90 x 1.15m and seats 8 to 10 people, it was filled with clear resin and sprayed with 7 coats with a matt finish.

Dinnerware was supplied by NuNord for this video.

We recently finished processing a small batch of blackbutt, it’s an extensive process that takes a year to complete. There are 9 slabs in all, a little over 3 meters long and vary from 0.5 to 1.1m wide making them ideal for a benchtop, a desk, or a dining table. All are available through our website.

Another batch of slabs and table slabs ready for sale, this time we've prepared a batch of mountain grey gum from Gippsland. All of these slabs are over 3 metres long, part of a group of logs we salvaged from a single gigantic tree that fell in the big storm events late in 2021.

Introducing our new slab support braces! Designed and manufactured in Australia, they are available in three lengths to suit most applications from benchtops to boardroom tables. The package also includes threaded inserts and bolts, all that is needed to install them is a router, a drill and Allen keys.

Since we built our studio in August, we've been taking photos of most of the tables we build. Because most of our tables are handmade to meet our customer’s needs, we've created a virtual showroom displaying them on our website to help inspire ideas as a starting point. We've just added these beautiful messmate slabs to our store, they are all made from the same log that was slavaged from Gippsland.
