Closed Until further notice due to complications with house rebuild

Well it’s finally the New Year but unfortunately things at McIntosh Furnishings are still on hold.
Due to the house fire and complications with the rebuild I won’t be back in the studio until March.

Unfortunately while I am away in the UK dealing with a family matter our beautiful home in Brisbane caught fire.
It is structurally unsafe and has extensive smoke damage.
Thankfully all my boys and animals were able to escape.
On my return to Oz all my energy will be directed into the rebuild and cleaning, so I have decided to close the business until next year.

All the bits are in place, new foam all over and sealed at the back .

Rebuilding the inside wings and outside underarms
It’s amazing the different layers that are hidden beneath and each layer plays an important role.
Just loving the splash of terracotta to highlight the wings. The black piping is just sexy 🤣
The back section will be next just waiting on the new foam.

Time to rebuild and fix issues

I’ve reinforced all joints that needed attention , all the webbing has been replaced and now has a lovely fresh ‘bounce’
The arms and wings have been shaped and padded with foam then covered in a layer of Dacron.
I’m trying to keep the shape the same as before so I can use the old fabric as a pattern.
The edge profile foam had perished so I’ve replaced that with a black rubber one, this will help give the timber edge a softness under the fabric.

While I wait for my foam to arrive I decided to have a look at what left over fabric bits I had in my stash. We are aiming for a patchwork eclectic look.
Keeping with my clients colour preferences I’ve kept monochrome on the outside and introduced a splash of green ( a little more olive than in the photos) and I’m waiting on 1m of terracotta Sunbrella to place on the inside of the wings.
All the piping is black. The seat cushion has the green on one side and will be terracotta on the other.
So far I’m totally stoked with the overall look.
I’ve taken photos to remind me of placement.
Can’t quite believe I’ve only had to purchase 1m of fabric 🤣
