A change is like a holiday 💙
This vintage Art Deco waterfall dresser originally sat low & in my opinion making the function of the drawers & cupboards awkward. To improve functionality & style Tony added some mid-century style hairpin legs & I restyled it with some a layered paint technique, stencilling & decor transfers. The hardware & mirror is original to the piece...I hope it's new owner adores it as much as we do.

This piece I have restyled is what my mum used to call a 'whatnot' & it makes me smile 😊
Whatnot is the name given to a floor-standing piece of open display furniture, comprised of slender uprights which support a series of shelves, based on the French design known as an 'etagere'.

The legs on this vintage piece are stunning & it's available to purchase.
I decided to use the gorgeous Renaissance Flowers decoupage paper by MINT by michelle for the top which has been sealed with a clear varnish. It also comes with a glass top for extra protection. The legs have been kept natural & sealed with wax. The body has been painted in a colour called Liquorice by Plain Jane & sealed with wax.
Traditionally this would be a hallway or entrance table but would be suitable as a dresser or small office table as it's the perfect height & space to seat at it.

This beautiful set of drawers has seen a life or two but is blessed to still have the original rustic hardware in place. There was some structural work required but the aim was to keep it's natural charm. By keeping some of those age marks we repaired the drawers to run smoothly, cleaned the hardware & removed the old shellac. It has been clear waxed & the internals of the drawers have been painted.
