What is thermal bridging and how can h**pcrete stop it?

When an object which has higher thermal conductivity than the surrounding materials, creating a path of least resistance for heat transfer. This is known as thermal bridging. Or quite simply, 'a draught'. It can occur wherever there isn't sufficient insulation. More importantly, it can occur in small gaps in insulation. For instance, at voids for power-points, every stud, empty eaves, the space between windows and the stud frame, wall corners where studwork meet, small missing portions of insulation installation due to a hungover apprentice or weight bearing lintels above windows and doors; Basically anywhere where insulation isn't.

The other reason we want to avoid thermal bridging, in Australia, is unwanted heat. It simply flows in through these points.

This can only be avoided by sufficient buffering/insulation. This is why h**pcrete can perform so well as it creates a complete, unbroken insulative envelope of your home. You’re creating a wall with no potential for easy heat loss or entry. The h**p enshrouds everything. From the studs to behind the power points and lintels.

First week last night for the new woodworking students. They all managed to work out the dreaded hand plane, square their lumber and glue it up on the first night!!

The red boy was built as a standalone vanity for a new bathroom in Reservoir for , but I think it would work just as well as a sideboard or dresser unit. The legs are ebonised messmate. The body is spotted-gum and the inlays are redgum.

I've put it on the NEW shop on my website www.brainbuilt.com.au for those who'd like to see more photos and also for those who'd like a recreation of him. His size can be adjusted and drawers, can be added also.
