I’ve just finished restoring a beautiful 1930s chest of drawers, and this one was a real labour of love.
The front features stunning marquetry, and while it would originally have had a mirror (sadly long gone, leaving two cut-outs on the top), the piece still had incredible character worth saving.
Structurally, it needed new drawer runners, guides, and stops—but the most satisfying part was repairing the damaged front corners. The veneer and underlying timber were in a bad way, so bringing those back to life took time, patience, and a bit of problem-solving… exactly the kind of challenge I enjoy most.
I’ve focused the photos on those repairs so you can see the transformation.
If you have a special piece tucked away that needs some TLC, I’d love to help bring it back to life—feel free to message me.
