Bin Bypass

Bin Bypass ‘Bin Bypass’ container docking stations facilitate consumer-to-consumer recycling in the public domain. What is a Bin Bypass?

A patented, industrially-designed, container docking system that stacks both vertically and horizontally. The units can be easily installed on poles and bins in the public domain to divert recyclable containers from landfill. Our advanced manufacturing processes allow us to deliver at scale and in a timely, quality controlled manner. Bin Bypasses help urban recyclers to collect containers in a safer, more efficient and more dignified manner.

Some of our community-donated units are ending up the in the wild. While donated to people with the intention of them installing them on their front fence, it’s great to see the West End Community getting behind the concept. #4101

Bin Bypass were proud to present at the Impact Boom Social Enterprise Showcase event last week at The Triffid in Brisbane.
Our founders successfully completed a 20 week accelerator program funded by the Qld Government under the Social Enterprise Growth fund amongst a cohort of 12 fellow organisations.
Throughout this program, Bin Bypass were able to refine elements of our Social Enterprise, identify our beneficiaries, better understand the issues we are solving and our client needs, refine our theories of change, align to the UN Sustainable Development Goals, connect with the national ecosystem, set ambitious environmental and social impact goals and put systems in place to measure our impact as we grow.
Many thanks to our program facilitators Sarah Ripper, Tom Allen, Eliana Cruz and Javier Casanova and congratulations to our fellow program graduates Save Our Supplies, Fibre Foundry, Australian Urban Growers, Yoga on the Inside, The Fig Tree Gift Shop, Umgum Marketing & Media, Cadent, Dyan Merz Tolentino, Jacob Birch and Dr Yannick van Hierden.

Ahem, on International Recycling Day this landfill bin has a special announcement filled with stats on Australia's container recycling shortcomings and everyone's role in addressing them.
Each year 3.74 billion containers in the 6 states/territories with a Container Deposit Scheme are NOT recycled and end up either in landfill or as litter.
That equates to exactly 200 containers per person per year. Every person. Every year.
Under 20% of our street bins provide a recycling option to consumers so we are often left with limited choices to 'do the right thing' besides take our rubbish home with us.
Those 3.74 billion containers stood next to each other are enough to circle the globe 6 times. Per year. Just from 6 states/territories of Australia. Not yet including Victoria or Tasmania.
We all have a problem to address, it's not just the consumers, it's the role of Councils and public space managers to provide better recycling options, the role of Container Deposit Schemes to help change behaviours and make collecting containers more readily accesible and widespread and we feel it is up to US to fix a broken link in the public space container recycling chain.
Installing Bin Bypasses provides consumers with options to leave their containers for others to collect and return for the container deposit reward. Closing the circle and diverting containers from landfill.
Bin Bypasses are self managing, space efficient, intuitive to use and made from recycled materials.
We all have our part to play. We love playing ours. Thank you for listening to this important Public Service Announcement - Landfill bin out.
