People often ask if I'm busy; truth is, I work 7 days a week and have never had a day without work or something to reupholster in around 28 years. When you have a passion or something you actually enjoy, my answer would be that I have never worked a day in my life.

Good products always tend to get the results, wether it’s the right canvas or a unique fabric for a particular job. Having to make that choice is important. I don’t choose products for my clients, I mir give advice on what iv learnt. I’m the first to admit this week I was skeptical about having a pale stripe fabric for a job, also shocked at the price. My client was happy with their choice. They paid for my est of 20mtrs . When I stared to cut I realised the fabric was rail roaded. This means to get the stripe on the chair running the right way there is going to be an awful lot of unused fabric, a off cut that may run a whole 10 mtrs that just doesn’t fit without a joiner.
To my surprise I got it all out with a small 30cm sq bit of fabric left! looking perfect!!
I upholstered this 20 years ago . The client had looked after it . All that was required was a colour change.

So now they get this beautiful expensive cotton linen blend fibre fabric that even smells lovely like a textile mill.
I think it looks as good as any Laura Ashley . Well done to Warwick wells abyss. Iv changed my mind a nice fabric one that you don’t see to often these days.

This was the last 20 mtrs or so available in aust. .

This week I also did a good solid frame Torno cover for a ram Ute . Good canvas that should last. YKK zippers.
I have just ordered some beautiful hides of natural leathers you just can’t buy in any future store for next week.
It’s always great to work with such nice materials. I’m lucky to have clients that don’t mind spending a little more on their jobs they have to.
I try to treat them as I would work on my own things.
I do have a lot of less expensive fabrics I also treat the same as best as I can. Im thankful to the small jobs though to the bigger ones . I just have to remember to stay true to the amount of jobs I have on and do my best work. All the suppliers all the people that believe. Thanks.
That’s exactly what upholstery needs as a trade to say Alive and popular more believers. Teach them well.

Some Upholstery for your eyes. I haven’t posted in a while this is not much compared to my camera roll.

But today the weather is nice & I’m in a good mood so here is a update. I would like to also mention a thanks to my wonderfull customers bright & surrounds. Your local support is important to me ! Without all your interesting projects where would I be.
Thanks for all those patient people some that I get to others I can’t. IT’s appreciated.

26 years worth of upholstery in one community & lots of memories & hopefully more in the near future.

It has been a while between posts. let’s just say the support and amount of projects, I have going, has kept me busy in the lead up to the holiday season. I thank all my clients for being such lovely people to deal with. For being patient & believing in me.
I had an opportunity this year to work on restoring a original barbers chair. I place it in the era between 1880 to 1920. It’s something I spent a lot of time & effort on my weekends striving to make it look like new & doing lots of research. even talking to restorers in the US. I’m 90% sure it’s a Koken. All though it may possibly be a malwa.

This chair is available and open to offers of genuine interest, feel free to make an offer of such vir PM. I am sure it will eventually find a good home. . A man cave! A perfect present for someone, possibly somewhere on display to be admired.
It was definitely something special finding old hair 100 years old, all the while wondering about its history in a barber’s somewhere. A place you would also get a bonus shoe shine for a threepence. Totally worth putting the effort into such a antique piece of history. I’m happy with how it came up. 🪑 💈 ✂️ 🪡
