Over the last month of so I have been working on a special project for my favourite granddaughter Stevie. shenanigans suggested that I build her a cubby house. And as some of my projects do, this took on a life of its own and almost became a tiny home.
I did have to buy new plywood for the walls, but everything else was reclaimed or recycled materials (including the insulated roofing sheets, thanks to the marketplace).
I made it in three parts so that transportation and installation would be "easier" not easy.
* The base, made from treated hardwood posts, was very heavy, but at least I know it's going to be pest resistant.
* The walls, made from recycled pallet timber and plywood and then painted in UV rated exterior paint.
* The roof, made recycled pallet timber and claimed installation roofing, which will keep the temperature inside the cubbyhouse/tiny home very cool.
Stevie loves it and thinks that it's her "cafe," so I think a bit of signage will need to be created in the not too distant future.
But to say I'm happy with it is a total understatement. There already talk that it could do with a deck, but we might have to see where this goes as far as design and functionality are concerned.
