Final moments for an A. Proksch grand piano that was collecting (A Lot Of) dust in a storage facility in Melbourne. It was built in the late 1800's in Liberec (historically known as Reichenberg) in the Bohemia region of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (now the Czech Republic). The soundboard has "Wien" on it, reflecting the major hub that Vienna was for sales, administration, and distribution, rather than the site of physical construction. Production in the original factory ended in 1925. We have salvaged all the beautiful mahogany timbers and parts to be used in new creations, with the metal frame and strings to be resmelted into new forms.
