Final moments for an A. Proksch grand piano that was collecting (A Lot Of) dust in a storage facility in Melbourne. It was built in the late 1800's in Liberec (historically known as Reichenberg) in the Bohemia region of the Austro-Hungarian Empire (now the Czech Republic). The soundboard has "Wien" on it, reflecting the major hub that Vienna was for sales, administration, and distribution, rather than the site of physical construction. Production in the original factory ended in 1925. We have salvaged all the beautiful mahogany timbers and parts to be used in new creations, with the metal frame and strings to be resmelted into new forms.

One of the most popular and useful ways to transform a customers piano is to make a side table. "Gladys" Singer piano to an original side table is the fantastically creative work of Stefano Chindamo from 22 Custom Furniture. Besides the beautiful timbers, there are many wonderful nods to the original piano from the exposed keyboard section, to pedal cupboard door handles and reusing the fallboard k***s on the 2 drawer fronts πŸ€©πŸ’•πŸŽΉβ™»

Here is our 3000th Customer Pickup Enquiry's Thalberg Player Piano Transformation! We went all the way to Bendigo to collect our customer's heirloom piano which had been in the family for generations, and had lots of love and memories tied to it. Following careful dismantling of the entire piano by hand by the World's Most Experienced Piano Deconstructer, Ethan, the piano parts were shipped to Laura and Vinko of ND Recycled Timber Furniture to begin a Magical Transformation. Designed in conjunction with the piano owner, Laura and Vinko went to work cutting, reshaping, joining, creating, gluing and renewing these piano parts. The results speak for themselves - this piano has been wonderfully transformed into a new and highly usable cocktail cabinet, jewellery box, cigar boxes and trinket box. Cheers to all involved in this great story of piano renewal πŸ€©πŸŽΉβ™»πŸ₯‚πŸ»πŸ’•

Our American colleague, Joe playing his Stars and Stripes rendition on a wonderful piece of World War 2 Memorabilia and US History. This Steinway original Victory Vertical Piano was made to be dropped into the battle zones (hence the camouflage colours, and vastly reduced piano weight). Only about 5000 were ever made, and many were destroyed during the conflict and ensuing chaos. They are highly collectible as it is thought only a few hundred units remain around the world- it is special among our pianos and still sounds fabulous!!

Last week Mike went on a road trip to Ballarat looking for pianos to pick up. He found these 5 beauties which were hiding on properties, in churches, sheds as well as in homes to bring back to our Melbourne warehouse for recycling. πŸš™ 🎹 πŸ„ πŸ‘ 🎡 ♻️
