Did you know that using screws instead of nails to secure your decking will help extend the life of your deck!

Why?
Screws are more resistant to pulling and popping out as they hold the boards flush better than nails. This keeps the boards from lifting over time, minimizing the risk of water getting underneath them. Wooden decks must withstand all types of weather conditions, so the choice in how you secure it is just as important as the material you choose.

When it comes to choosing the right timber for your home, the Janka rating for your floors should be considered in your decision. However, a more important factor is the lifestyle and activities of the people living on it. If you have a large family, a home with pets or a commercial space with high traffic, a timber with a higher rating will be more durable and at a lesser risk of dents.

What is engineered flooring?
While traditional hardwood planks are made from a single piece of solid timber, engineered is made from a thin layer of decorative timber typically glued on a hardwood plywood core.
The top layer of timber can vary from 2mm to 6mm thick, depending on the products

How do I clean and care for my engineered flooring?
Just like solid hardwood, engineered flooring is easy to care for! It requires simple sweeping, vacuuming, and occasionally a damp mop with a wood cleaner.

How is it installed?
For installation there are 3 options;
1. A nail-down method just like solid hardwood.
2. Glued down onto a concrete subfloor
3. Installed as a floating floor where each panel is joined together using “click-lock” technology.

Does it last as long as traditional hardwood floors?
Although engineered flooring doesn’t last as long as traditional hardwood floors, it allows you to achieve the same look at a more affordable price.

Can I sand an engineered floor?
In most cases yes; with so many variations of engineered floors, please refer to manufacturer details to determine if your floor is suitable for sanding.
