Ten years ago today I opened New State Environment and Heritage. Itโ€™s hard to believe it was that long ago. Itโ€™s been simultaneously challenging, frustrating and a heap of fun and I have worked on some amazing projects and worked with some lovely and talented people. Thanks to everyone who has supported me, answered questions and made me extend myself to learn new things and improve existing skills.

We're three years old! Thanks again to my clients (particularly the return ones) for their continued support, I'm looking forward to another busy year.

Celebrating this milestone by attending a conference on a topic close to my heart - management of heritage bridges. The conference is being held at Ironbridge Gorge in the U.K, home of Thomas Telford's Iron, Bridge, the first of its kind and a big leap forward in bridge design and construction as a result of the industrial revolution. The bridge was opened in 1781 and is still going strong, now as a major tourist attraction.

It's our second birthday today! ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐Ÿพ A big thank you to our valued clients and all the people who have recommended our services to others. It's great to be doing work that's enjoyable and to help clients achieve outcomes that meet their objectives in an environmentally sound manner. Looking forward to continued growth this year.

I've been appointed to the Roads and Maritime Services panel for Provision of Audit Services for Infrastructure Projects as an environmental auditor. There are some big road projects under construction in this part of the world right now so I'm looking forward to getting out on site again and back into this line of work.

I've been asked to be a guest lecturer at the University of New England Law School this year. The UNE law school teaches Environmental Law and I'll be presenting on Planning and Development law at the Commonwealth, State and local level. My lecture will be covering the role of the three levels of government in development control and the limitations of planning and development control law.

I'll also be discussing the practical application of planning and development control legislation drawing from my more than 20 years experience in the heritage and environment fields. I'm really looking forward to it!
