Happy fifth anniversary Chloe Wilson and Ian Wilson I think your wedding has been watched by more people around the world than any other Whitsundays wedding ever. If you watch this flashmob of your day once a day, every day, for the next 300 years, yes three hundred years, you will still not reach the time people have watched already.

After a very courteous and ethical election campaign it seems at least one candidate will do almost anything to win.

Ry Collins recently posted false assertations on his candidate page that I had a preference deal with another candidate.

I respectfully commented on that post to correct his assumption, only to have my comment removed and then I was blocked from commenting.

Ry’s post was then edited to hide the fact he had made false assertations in the first place.
You can compare the two versions of his post below.

If a candidate cannot even be ethical, open and transparent in a campaign Facebook post, what makes you think he’d bother to be ethical, open or transparent as Mayor?

I have never blocked a person from my FB so they cannot comment, I have never removed a single comment from my FB so they can no longer be seen. Can the other candidates say the same?

Why Philip Batty is the Best Choice for Mayor
With 5 clear and key focus areas, Philip Batty is consolidating his efforts for Mayor in the Whitsunday Regional Council election
Philip (Phil) Batty is focused on 5 key areas for his election campaign for Mayor of the Whitsundays region.
His background as a senior executive in the tourism and hospitality industry with notable experience at the London Olympics, Tennis Australia and Crown Casino, Batty is well qualified for the role. Furthermore his involvement in the community has led to some major wins for the Whitsunday region. Upon taking on the role of President of the Proserpine Golf Club, Batty increased profit by 645% from $27,000 to $205,000 in the year 2022-2023. In 2002, Batty was the key to getting a discount airline (Virgin Blue) flying into Proserpine airport. Cruise ships into Airlie Beach were also mainly due to Batty’s intervention and business acumen. In 2020, Batty orchestrated the biggest social media success in history a flash mob in the region with a wedding held at Airlie Beach! To date, the flash mob has had over 1.7 million impressions on Facebook.
Batty is campaigning on 5 key issues for the region.
1. Freezing rate rises. With one of the highest rates in the country, Batty is committed to freezing council rate rises.
2. Solve the housing crisis. Batty has an innovative plan to solve the housing crisis.
3. Engaged decision making. Batty understands the needs of the people in the region.
4. International flights. Building on his success with domestic flights, Batty is turning his attention on securing international flights to the region.
5. Improve regional roads. Batty understands business and knows having major arterial roads available through predictable weather conditions is essential.
When asked why he wants to be Mayor, Batty talks about his love for the Whitsundays, “I think it is one of the truly magnificent locations anywhere in the world.”
Batty is very aware of the potential of the region. “The whole region has so much untapped and unrealised potential to grow and diversify. Development, industry, tourism and conservation can all co-exist if there is a will and a strength from the leadership to make it happen.”
On Saturday 16 March 2024, Vote 1 Philip Batty for the strength of leadership to make the Whitsunday Region live up to its potential.

No better way to spend International Women’s day 2024 than with the ladies of Collinsville for morning tea at the Pit Pony Tavern . These ladies are the heart and soul of this community and it was my pleasure to spend a little time with them.
