As a professional guitar maker I sense and utilize the qualities of the material. The time of felling and the processing of the wood have essential effects on the sound of the guitar. The optimal storage of the wood is a precondition for my work – I store the wood that I use under my own control and as long as possible. Something very special for instance is spruce that is felled and split accordi
ng to phases of the moon. If I am able to accompany the whole process of a tree up to the point of a finished guitar, a strong bond with the material develops. Therefore I attach great importance to work also with timber from local regions. As wood is a living, working material, the work of a guitar maker is never the same. To make the natural qualities of the material perceptible in a fine instrument, through optimal processing, is what I consider as my task.
