Painting Supervisor Job Description:
Reports to: Director/Chief Supervisor
Job Summary:
Serves as Painting Foreman/Supervisor and will be responsible for all company painting work related assignments. Schedules and supervises painting jobs, including repairs, modifications to existing and new works. The projects include painting of buildings, equipment, and other structures, in accordance with issued drawings, specifications and verbal instructions.
The successful candidate would plan and schedule work for the group, ensuring proper coordination of work schedule and adequate manning. The Painting supervisor is expected to carry out cost estimations, prepare programs, order and procure tools, materials and consumables for the painting projects; determine sequence of painting operations and application methodology, including arranging for scaffolding and rigging, carry out color blending and matching; inspect completed work for compliance with drawings, specifications and instructions; conduct periodic inspections of ongoing works to determine painting standards and needs; recommend various painting personnel actions including, but not limited to, hiring, performance appraisals, promotions and vacation schedules.
Role and Responsibilities:
· Schedules, assigns, and plans the painting works as per project requirements
· Develops work schedules, tool and equipment usage schedules, procedures for tools and equipment maintenance
· Estimates material and labor requirements and associated cost expenditures per project
· Monitors the acquisition and use of paint materials and supplies
· Supervises skilled painters in site work and off site in paint shop; assigns subordinate painters to work details, and inspects work in progress and upon completion to ensure that it meets required standards
· Supervises and participates in mixing paints and matching colors; inspects surfaces for cleanliness and readiness for painting; inspects equipment; buildings, or other structures reported to be in need of painting
· Discusses painting requirements and color matching issues with departmental personnel; supervises the painting and redecorating of building interiors and exteriors, furniture, equipment, and fixtures
· Maintains records and reports of material, labor, and time costs and prepares and submits reports
· Recommends for hiring new painters or terminating existing ones as per company requirements
· Coaches and trains existing painters on new work methods or procedures, changes in safety regulations, and work policies
· Evaluates the performance of painter employees
· Ensures budgeting guidelines are met; prioritizes expenditures to stay within budget; assists in preparation of capital and operational budgets
· Interprets UAE Governmental and particular Municipality Health & Safety policies to assigned personnel, enforces safety regulations and adheres to proper codes and standards
· Inspects all completed work orders and verifies quality of executed job
· In case of accident, investigates and prepares incident report
· Coordinates work with other trades as necessary
· Performs other duties/special assignments as required to meet the ongoing needs of the Department
Skills:
· Extensive knowledge of the standard practices, materials, methods, tools and equipment of the painting trade necessary to execute a painting project.
· Considerable knowledge of the qualities and adaptabilities of various surfacing materials, of the methods or preparing variety of surfaces for finishing by brush and spray equipment, of the proper methods of mixing paints and blending colors to obtain desired colors and qualities, and of the weather and wear resistance qualities of paints and other finishing materials
· Considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the painting trade
to successfully manage the storage and/or disposal of any hazardous paint materials
· Considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the work and ability
· Ability to successfully administer various large and small contacts
· Ability to plan, layout, assign, and supervise the work of painters and helpers as per particular project requirements
· Ability to make estimates for materials and time requirements and to prepare reports
· Ability to maintain good working relationships with other internal and external stakeholders
· Excellent communication skills
· Basic computer and skills
· Holder of UAE vehicle license
· Must be able to work well as a team leader; must be self-driven, reliable, and responsible
· Leadership skills to supervise the work of the Painting Team
· Ability to perform special assignments as required or to meet the ongoing needs of the department
Requirements:
· Minimum 10 years of GCC progressively responsible painting experience, which includes at least 3 years of supervisory experience in UAE; any training certificate and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved will be considered as a further
· High school diploma or equal
· Good knowledge of painting industry current practices and work procedures
· Ability to handle various painting assignments and multi-task
· Knowledge of UAE national and Dubai local regulations and codes
· Knowledge of use and care of tools and equipment necessary to painting work
· Knowledge of safe work methods and practices
· Ability to prepare cost estimations for received paint tenders, prepare programs and plan sequence of work activities
· Excellent organizational skills
· Understanding of suitability of paint material and tools
