Today I want to write about keys things to look for in a sofa.
Getting the tight sofa for your home is not easy. Sofas are one of the most expensive furniture decor items for your home, therefore you need to make sure you are making the right purchase decision. Before buying one, please carry out due diligence. The following are the five things you look for in a sofa.
1. COMFORT
No matter how beautiful a sofa looks, comfort is a number one consideration. If it is not comfortable then it is not beautiful. So before you make your final purchase decision,feel it, sit in it a few minutes trying to feel how comfortable it is. If it doesn't feel comfortable don't buy.
2. DESIGN & SHAPE
There are a variety of designs and shapes of sofas on the market. This may pretty well confuse you when you want to make a purchase. If you are not certain of what you want, think about the overall design/style of your living room it will go in and the kind of look you want to achieve. A general rule is don't put a traditional sofa in a modern house. If you cant decide, get assistance from experts.
3. COLOUR & PATTERN
While design & shape are important, it is the colour and pattern which have a bigger impact in the room. Sofa colour take up so much visual space so I would suggest you chose colour that is simple and a minimal pattern. While trendy and bold colours may be attractive in the immediate and short term, over time they will likely look dated and you can easily get tired of it. Therefore, I would recommend to use grey and dark shades that you can dress up with colourful cushions and throws.
4. SIZE
The size of the sofa set is critical when making a choice. There are three common things you need to think about when it comes to size i.e. the number of people to be regularly accommodated, size of the room and getting the sofas into your room.
i. If the number of people who regularly sit on the sofa is four or less then there is no need to buy a big sofa that can accommodate more than five people.
ii. Another key determinant is the size of the room. The sofa set must be well proportioned in relation to the rest of the room. Too small a room will make it look cluttered.
iii. Getting the sofa into the room is also another key determinant. You need to make sure that the sofa is easy to get through the entrance doorways, staircases and hallways. Some people make errors whereby they buy sofas that wont get past their doorways which in most cases causes damage to the sofas or the house.
5. QUALITY
Quality is a huge factor when buying sofas. However, quality sofas are expensive but are expected to last more than 25 years while poor quality sofas will likely last up to 5 years. Quality and cost go hand in hand when it comes to sofas. Please note that no matter how good the quality, if you don't take care of your sofas, they wont last. So do not do anything that will run down your sofas.
