Definition of an Auction: The firm and time defined sale of real property by competitive bid. Did you know that there are different types of auctions? We describe a few of them:
An Auction With Reserve is an auction in which the Seller or his agent reserves the right to accept or decline any and all bids. A minimum acceptable price may or may not be disclosed and the Seller reserves the right to accept or decline any bid within a specified time. We make use of this kind of auction when a property with an existing bond is for sale. An Absolute Auction (Auction Without Reserve) is an auction where the property is sold to the highest qualified bidder with no limiting conditions or amount. This type of auction is very popular when you sell movable goods, e.g. furniture. A Minimum Bid Auction is an auction in which the auctioneer will accept bids at or above a disclosed price. The minimum price is always stated in the brochure and advertisements and is announced at the auctions. This type of auction is popular when selling movables with a high value, e.g. art works and paintings. Note: There is no such thing as an absolute auction with a minimum bidding!!! Be aware if you see this kind of misleading information. A Ballroom Auction is an auction of one or more properties conducted in a meeting room facility.
