Tegs Timbers provides a service to the furniture, shopfitting, joinery, kitchen, general manufacturing and retail sectors. Our machineshop in Durban is geared to servicing the decking, moulding and solid hardwood flooring sectors. Hobbyists are most welcome to visit our well stocked and efficient break bulk section. Our head office is situated in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. We have established

branches in Durban and Johannesburg, and deliver throughout South Africa via our own fleet of delivery vehicles.

Made from extremely robust Zim Teak the floor is sure to stand the test of time.

Adam Jewel from the flooring guy gave our machine shop team, the challenge of matching the profile of the existing Chapel floor, the floor will definitely fit into the Natural beauty of the Midlands.

Merbau a timber often forgotten but up to the task

The grain of Merbau is interlocked and figured. Texture coarse. Wood contains dark brown resin that will leach when in contact with water. Extremely durable hardwood with good resistance to borer and termite attack. High crushing strength. Good stability in service. Does not bend well as a result of oil exudations.

HEARTWOOD COLOUR: Brown, red-brown to dark brown. Vessels can be filled with a yellowish/ white deposit.

SAPWOOD COLOUR: White to yellow, clearly defined from heartwood.

WORKING PROPERTIES: Bores, carves, glues, moulds, planes, sands and screws with good results. Pre-bore for nailing. Works well with hand tools. Painting and polishing finishes are good.

a good choice for upmarket joinery, and is a good choice for outside environments as well.
