I’m saying goodbye to a remarkable human and an exceptional architect that sadly passed away on Tuesday 27 January 2026.
Karel Keuler was one of those rare people who set the bar impossibly high — and then quietly lived there. He was meticulous, precise, disciplined, and deeply proud of his work. Every drawing, every detail, every site meeting mattered to him. And because of that, the spaces he created were exceptional.
Working with Karel was always a privilege. He was prepared, present, and completely on top of everything — always. He taught me so much, often without even realising it, simply through his standards, his work ethic, and his unwavering commitment to doing things properly.
He was well known and highly respected in the industry, and for good reason. He didn’t cut corners. He didn’t compromise. He cared — deeply — about what he put his name to.
Karel also had a gentle, quietly funny side. He used to call me his “site wife,” and our long site meetings were made better with shared laughs, food, and drinks I’d bring along — moments I’ll always treasure.
His passing feels incredibly unfair. Someone so healthy, so disciplined, and so full of purpose should have had many more years ahead of him. The industry has lost a true professional, and I’ve lost a colleague I deeply admired and genuinely loved working with.
Thank you, Karel, for the lessons, the standards, the trust, and the memories. You will be missed more than words can say.
