Get Paid What you’re Worth and Spend Less Than You Earn
If you are struggling to make ends meet, it may be time to ask yourself if you are really getting paid what you are worth. You need to step out of your comfort zone and demand (‘request’) that your worth is recognised on a financial level. It may be that you simply need to engage with your supervisor/manager etc. in a discussion about your performance and level of remuneration. If an employee is happy with their remuneration, employers will not willingly pay more – lower labour costs increases profit. If employees are not happy with their remuneration, discussions should be held to ensure fair pay. Effort needs to be recognised and you need to consider if you are doing yourself in or if your earnings are in line with your qualification, experience and market trends. It may even be time to consider stepping into the entrepreneurial world. Change (and challenge) is good.
Secondly, you need to realise that you will never get ahead financially if you spend more than what you earn. Adjust your spending to be less (or at least equal to, to start with) than your earnings. Remember that using your credit card does not mean you are NOT spending your hard earned money – the decrease in your funds are simply being delayed (and interest will then also have to be paid). Credit card spending needs to be taken into account when you evaluate your earnings to spending ratio.
