Bowfishing community,
Please be aware the Boating Access Site (BAS) at Pointe Mouillee State Game Headquarters is closed for night use and you can be ticketed. This BAS has always been closed, but recent issues of illegal or improper use have caused enforcement by the DNR. If you have used this site in the past, you'll need to use another launch. Please respect the rules. The Bowfishing Association of Michigan will still be able to host our tournaments at Pointe Mouillee and going forward the permit will include a few days prior to allow for scouting.
A couple of years ago BAM worked with the DNR to get more sites open to recreational bowfishing. Some launches were recommended to remain closed. You can view the list in the comments. If a BAS is listed as closed, please adhere to the rules. Those listed as support opening should be open for night use. This is not an all-inclusive list just what BAM worked with the DNR on. When going out for nighttime bowfishing please look for signage if a site is closed during certain hours.
The Bowfishing Association of Michigan is very fortunate to have a good relationship with the DNR. All divisions of the DNR have been willing to work with us on issues throughout the years and we look forward to continuing that partnership.

That's a wrap on the 2026 tournament season! July 11th and 12th, State Shoot Lake Erie/Detroit River.Thanks to our members, there wouldn't be Bowfishing Association of Michigan without you.
